I love being on the water, whether kayaking, wind-surfing, sailing, water-skiing or cruising across the English Channel or to the West Country. Most of my experience has been with powerboats, ranging from speedboats and RIBs up to flybridge cabin cruisers.
I setup Sure to Shore boat training to help others quickly realise their dreams of confidently navigating coastal waters and enjoying the boating life.
The only way to learn it, is to do it. On your own boat.
Sure to Shore training draws from my experience as a skipper as well as a career built in training. My experience also draws from official RYA courses.
Non-RYA training can be customised to your needs. Many clients simply want to build confidence with berthing. We can start here and go further if you wish.
If you want to discuss RYA courses, I can talk you through the options as well as introduce you to highly rated RYA Training Centres, through which I need to operate to deliver these official courses.
My qualifications include:
RYA Yachtmaster Offshore (commercially endorsed skipper)
RYA Advanced Powerboat Instructor
Can teach:
Powerboat Level 1 - Start Powerboating (2 days)
Powerboat Level 2 - Powerboat Handling (2 days)
Intermediate Powerboat - Day Cruising (2 days)
Advanced Powerboat - Day and Night (2 days)
+ Exam Prep for Certificate of Competence - Professional Skipper (2 days)
Click here for more information on these courses.
If powerboating is new to you, I would recommend RYA Powerboat Level 2 to learn basic boat handling techniques (and optionally add the ICC - International Certificate of Competence), plus one day of own-boat training which is customised to you, your crew and your boat.
If you are more experienced, you may just require some coaching in boat handling and familisarisation, perhaps with some help on passage planning.
Please do contact me and we can discuss your needs.
